Which RTS?

Seeing the thread about Starcraft 2 has started me craving a decent RTS.

The last one I played was C&C Tiberium Wars, are there any decent games along similar lines out at the moment?

Company of Heroes is a great stratgey game, get it for all round goodness (great graphics and good stratgey in it).

Get Men of War if you want something a lot more challenging, though it is an "acquired taste" (will take you ages to get into it and get good at it).

Another vote for Supreme Commander, forged alliance for the new "sequeal". Haven't play SupCom2, heard complaints but I still hear it is a solid game, but not a true sequeal to the original

And I should give the usual shout outs to Red Alert 2 and such.

The original starcraft and the expansion still have a very lively community in places like ICCup.

Warcraft 3 is great too. As for supreme commander I played it and didn't find it interesting in the slightest but to each his own (I loved total annihilation before anyone asks).

In my opinion, your best bet is waiting for Starcraft 2 to come out... so soon now... sooooo sooooooooooon

You can download Starcraft + expansion from the Blizzard store for £9.99. I am thinking about buying it to tide me over to Starcraft 2.

Still easily the best RTS on the market. Been disappointed with the genre for a few years now.

I agree with this sentiment and that CoH is the best of the bunch.

I'm not too good at it, but if anyone fancies playing a few games of co-op against the AI just for the hell of it, then give me a shout.

Company of Heroes is not only the best rts ever made but simply one of the best games ever made.
It shall remain the best rts even when starspam 2 comes out.

Supreme comander 1 (with the forged alliance expansion) or Company of heroes (and the opposing fronts expansion tales of valour isn't very good).

Supcom FA if you like huge maps and 1000's of different units, CoH is you like small very detailed tactical fighting.

Don't bother with supcom2, they've removed pretty much every strategic feature that has been in RTS's scince AoE2.

IE you can't even face your units or make a formation, just a giant square pointing in a random direction.

Brilliant, some great suggestions in here.

I remember playing the demo of Starcraft years ago, I never bought the game just played the 2 (I think) missions over and over :D.

I'd say universe at war: earth assault - initially I gave this game a ribbing in another thread about a month ago and a forum member said I should try it properly and have a go on the single player to learn how to play it properly. It turns out its actually quite a good game and very tactical which I wasn't actually expecting.

Its got a strong anime feel to it with the novos but if you can look past that you have to decide how best to destroy enemy walkers or your army gets 1 shotted, which units to target first and what to use to kill them quickly and when to use your special abilities.

Sounds like same old same old but its exceptionally unforgiving lol. I'm stuck on the single player and Ive not been stuck on a single player game in about 10 years.
