Hi all, I would like to upgrade my TV soon. I saw the LG OLED in shops and I was blown away with the picture quality. However, the 65 inches model I'm after is 3k from richersounds.

I'm wondering what would be an equivalent non OLED Samsung or Sony?

Thanks

Sony ZD9 and the Samsung KS9500:)

Nonsense.

Sony XD93 and Samsung KS8000 are more than capable of competing with the B6 and a fraction of the price. They may not have the ultimate black levels of OLED but they're still pretty damn good and outperform OLED in other ways.

What type of TV are you coming from?

To compete with Oled you need full array backlight.

Oh dear, I was underestimating LED prices then. How does KS7000 compare, is that mid range would you say?
PQ wise very little to no difference. The KS8000 as a little bit more hardware and twin tuners and a little bit better built.

I had the KS7000 sent it back to the shop. Fantastic PQ and depth of colour.

HDR will expose most Edge light TV flaws and really highlight them.

Panasonic 902 series are just as good as the LG B6.

They do a 65" version but Tues I will be getting the 58" version delivered to me. Cost of the TV was £1949.

Yeah - every brand has its share of horror stories and writing one off completely makes no sense. If that was the case i'd avoid LG, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic!

I've currently got my heart set on a KS9500. Annoyingly the 78" would fit perfectly on my av cabinet and is the ideal size for the viewing distance. Shame it costs 6k!!

Really? How interesting - please tell us more. I have a JS9000 55" and no problems with mine, touch wood.

Perhaps you were just unlucky?

nah I said inherent problems, something Samsung could not fix. They sent me a Samsung plasma (upgrade in size) god awful screenburn even when you display a DVD menu for a short period, which took a long while to disappear. Then fuzzing colours/pixels like it's attempting to make more colours out of it's poor colour pallette. Forgotten the other faults. Problems with Samsung LCD before that. Thankfully I got the £1000 refund and put that towards a quality Pioneer plasma.

So your experience from a good 5 years ago with plasmas is putting you off lcd screens?
