Hey all

I know absolutely nothing when it comes down to SatNavs, in the sense that I dunno why some are more expensive than others? Apart from speed and maps of europe etc?

Well I wanted to know if you guys could spec me a decent one? Don't really need maps of Europe, and don't really want to spend over £80 to be honest...

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

Functionality / usability wise I can recommend TomTom. I have been pleased wtih the performance of my TomTom Go 530 and their base models might suit your budget.

wut? All I wondered was why you want a sat nav? or maybe it's a need rather than a want.

Ahhhh, I mis-read what you said, came across wrong. I want one for general driving, I'm only 17 and passed my test last monday so getting my first car at the beginning of the week and my general sense of direction is appalling! So driving around on my own I'm bound to get lost, so I thought a SatNav would help me out a bit :)

I'd think about saving up for a TomTom One, new at approx £120.

Rgds

I could afford a £300 one if I wanted to, but I just can't justify spending that much on it, especially as I only bought the car for £900 :p

Plus the fact, my girlfriend is insisting on buying it for me, so don't want to take the mick.

NaviGo 3.5" V2+ @ £57.50 is perfectly adequate, it reliably gets me around the UK without problem.

I have also borrowed and tried a Garmin Nuvi 300 & some TomTom (I can't remember which) - I really couldn't see what I was getting for the extra money

You might like to try searching on this forum for SatNavs & I suspect that you will get a shedload of conflicting advice.

Unless you have very strange requirements - i.e. you drive an HGV or tow a caravan, the NaviGo @ £57.50 will do the job ;)

By the looks of it, it's down to opinion... :) I guess I don't need one for central London... :) Cheers for the advice so far people, any more input would be great too :)

I was in England a couple of weeks ago, and borrowed a TomTom with IQ Routes and it was the bomb !!! Highly recommend one..

Ahh damn was gonna post last night to say that if you had an asda near you you should give them a ring! They have/had tomtom one IQs for 80 quid on rollback and other models for a few quid more. Got mine last week it's basic but can't fault it. Anyway hope you're happy with your purchase :)
