Hi, i just bought the minolta Dimage dual scanner and then realised i'll probably need to get an scsi card as i dont think one is included. could anyone reccomened me something. It may be a case that any old thing will do but I hear adaptec are the best people to go with. for example on ebay i see a
'ADAPTEC 2940UW UltraWide SCSI Card 50 & 68 Pin'
do i buy this??!
looking on a shopping website they say that the scanner comes with

'Connections: 1 x Fast SCSI - 25 pin D-Sub (DB-25)
(mine probably wont, second hand from a man with a mac)

does that mean I need the '25 pin' or are there alternatives that i could get (eg the 'ADAPTEC 2940UW UltraWide SCSI Card 50 & 68 Pin')
thanks

the scsi card you have posted in OP will be fine for running your scanner
if i remeber correctly that card has a 68-pin High-Density connection at the rear for conneting external scsi device's.
The difficult part will be finding a cable to connect the card to the scanner using that particular scsi card.
Adaptec AHA-2930CU PCI SCSI Controller Card OEM this card might be better as finding a 50pin to 25pin external scsi cable will be easier

so i buy the..
ADAPTEC 2940UW UltraWide SCSI Card 50 & 68 Pin
and then buy (for example) ..
Belkin External Scsi Scs Cable 50 Pin Dsub Male 25 Pin for just a few pounds
?
(the scanner comes with the 25 pin scsi)

that wont work as the 2940UW has a 68pin external connection
thats whay i recommended the 2930CU card as it has a 50pin external connection for which the cable you mention will be ideal
it is possible to get 68pin to 25 pin cable but they are very hard to source.

Well after having an Adaptec U320 39320D-R card for 6 years, i'm never going to buy Adaptec again.

I've heard lots of people recommend LSI instead, but cannot say as i have no experience with them.

I think its including the cable, so i'll wait for it to arrive before i go for an adaptor or need another cable.

I bought the card from an ebay shop that says they have a 30 days return policy..which is nice of them. thanks for the help, hopefully soon i shall be scanning to my hearts content
