Which Seasonic PSU?

I'm looking to get a PSU for my new HEDT build, probably 1000W.

I was looking at the Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 1000W, what it doesn't seem to be available. There is a Platinum version though.

Does anyone have an idea of when the Prime Ultra Titanium will become available?

@ChugNorris
BTW regarding my signature, I really have tried to find the Signature FAQs (or any FAQs) & I honestly can't find them. Providing a link really would be both helpful & professional, bearing in mind that you are dealing with a client who is spending well in excess of £5k.

Perhaps a friendly PM explaining the problem would have been more in keeping with a customer service, rather than a sarcastic comment?

Hello
I can point out the rules about signatures, They are here:
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/help/boardUserMaintenance/

I've checked out your proposed build, I think the above PSU is a tad expensive for what it is. I can accept it is up there with one of the best on the market, but still.

I'd buy this instead.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £225.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Its made by Seasonic & can run a dual system PC (2 PC's in the same case) Same Warranty & the power saving just isnt worth it. 1200w version is just £20 more.

Thanks, but I already bought that Seasonic. I've had good support from them previously & OC only had one in stock, so I pushed the button on it.

Thanks for the FAQ link. It does not come up in a search & I honestly don't know what was wrong with my previous signature. You woudl have thought that a mod would send a polite PM instead of a rude message. We are all customers who spend thousands of pounds on kit. I don;t even know the mod's name, so am unable to bring the to the attention of the MD.

older prime ultra models had better noise profile promise <22dBA at 100% load than the new TXs which make no promise of max dBA, and whose noise chart shows a nasty ramp-up (albeit on an unlabelled/undimensioned y-axis). Hopefully won't be a problem if you use them at <50% total capacity but one to watch out for.

One of the differences with Prime Ultra (Titanium, Platinum and Gold), is Seasonic removed the in-line cable capacitors.

The TX, PX and GX series are essentially same PSU's as the older corresponding Prime Ultra models, I expect Seasonic are trying to simplify the naming.

yeah they defo should simplify the naming of their PSU's. Mite just go all out and get the titanium one (probably a overkill for me tho)

The problem with titanium versions is there's quite a jump in price above platinum and gold. Titanium versions are worth buying if there is a discount on one, otherwise the ultra platinum and gold's are still very high end.

Main advantage of titanium is they are more efficient at lower wattage (<150w), so good if your PC is left on for long periods at idle or low workloads, then 1-2% more efficient at mid loads. Ripple might be a bit tighter on the titanium also, however it's splitting hairs as it's already excellent on the platinum and gold.

ahhhhh. yeah my pc is usually on for like 10hrs a day, mostly just play games and browsing. The pricing is quite a jump aint it, dammmmmm. Mite just go with the platinum one then

Seasonic's PSU naming has been actually quite good with change in name when insides change.
Unlike some Corsair who just keeps changing insides like underwear without changing model name.

thats good to know then as seasonic will be my new PSU (was thinking of corsair PSU's too)

I bought the Seasonic Prime gold GX-850 new model and i see they placed a chrome plate on the psu which looks nice untill its in a case, lol. they have also removed the caps from the cables and they prob imporved some things inside the PSU but untill someone reviews these we will not know that yet.

If colour isn't an issue there is a good deal on the Seasonic 750W Titanium Snow PSU at the moment.

I think it's EOL but £135 for a 750W Titanium PSU is great. I'd paid the same in 2011 for my Seasonic built Corsar AX 750W. With a 12 year warranty I think I'm covered for a while. I'll move the AX into a secondary system.
