Which Security software do i need?

Well, just wondering what security software would you guys recommend i use for my Vista 32bit system?

I suppose i need a good AntiVirus program, what else?

Any specific programs i should use? Avast has been mentioned but what about adware, spyware, malware etc?

I need to know what specific programs i need to keep my pc protected as i just had to reformat after getting Micro Antivirus, Antivirus 2009 etc

Any advice would be superb. Thanks

(Had AVG. That didn't protect me from the above!!)

I use windows Vista firewall Avast Antivirus and spy bot search and destroy for Spyware.

Doesn't spybot pop up all the time with prompts?

Not with me it doesn't....

Avira Antivir is also a decent free antivirus....

Only when installing programmes, I sometimes disable it and run it manualy when needed.

No....

AntiVir
Spybot (if you must - just don't use the resident protection, manually scan as and when)
Spywareblaster

Happily, Spywareblaster doesn't need to be memory resident to be effective, and AntiVir comprehensively outquaffs most of the payware AV's out there.

I use -

Nod32 Virus Scanner - I also like Kapersky - best 2 scanners on the market i think
Firewall i use Windows firewall as well as my built in firewall on my router.

if you install the tea timer protection system. Everytiem you do summat it tells you etc

Oh, and get Comodo firewall too. Windows firewall should stop inbound connection attempts but won't filter outbound traffic. If you don't want programs (even seemingly legitimate programs!) phoning home at will, get comodo firewall and switch off the windows firewall service.....
