Which settings for sleeping dogs?

I just got sleeping dogs, initially I put everything on maximum and FPS dipped in the high 30's sometimes.

If I put all the setting to high and a couple on medium I get a pretty solid 50-60FPS. I'm in the process of installing the high-res texture pack now as I read it didn't really impact performance.

My spec is:

i3 3220
7850 2GB
8GB DDR3

If you have the same spec as me could you please give me a run down as to how your settings are? :)

Thanks

Are you using extreme AA? That'd explain your dips in framerates, if you are you should be able to play it on ultra without extreme AA as my old 6850 could cope with it.

Ok with Quality AA set to normal it's loads better. Always between 40-60, usually a solid 50.

With it set on high it's not to bad but I don't really notice a difference between normal and high. :)

EDIT - When outdoors around the city in sleeping dogs driving really fast, my FPS can sometimes dip into the 30's with everything maxed except AA. Is this normal for my spec?

Just checked.

You'r GPU is slightly better than mine, but my CPU is faster.

Anyway, I get around the same rate as you at very similar settings. High 30's to mid 40's. The very occasional drop to high 20's.

Extreme AA killed it to about 17-19 FPS.

I really want to play the game at max settings. It's fantastic. What GPU along with my CPU could cope with it?

I don't understand why the game seems to run so bad because it doesn't really look all that great.

Cheers

I've got the game running great now. At first I realized my RAM was only running in single channel, moving it to dual channel helped loads! I got an SSD yesterday aswell so that probably helped. :)

I left AA on Normal, disabled motion blur as I'm not a fan and ambient occlusion on normal.

Got 40-60FPS even outdoors. Loving it!

They are on-engine mate, kinda like a spectators view. They are accurate representations of actual in game fps, they aren't pre rendered cutscenes are they? Wei Shen is off in an alleyway somewhere while the game goes into free camera mode and floats around the city for abit testing your machines capabilities.

I notice in sleeping dogs when it's daytime, you seem to suffer a massive hit to FPS. Probably because there's a lot more in view and lots more shadows etc. Daytime I probably only average 30FPS.

I tried in the graphics card section in the sleeping dogs thread but didn't get much luck.

Does anyone else notice mild micro-stuttering when playing this game? For me it usually happens when turning corners, or going from 60FPS to something like 40FPS if you look into the distance of suddenly a lot starts to go on.

Could it be Vsync related? I think everytime my FPS goes from 60 to something else, for a split second it'll cause a stutter until it stabilizes.

Cheers
