Which SF4 version for online play?

Been wanting to get this but I'm not sure about some things:
1. Can SF4 owners play together with SSF4AE owners?
2. If not, which of the two has the biggest online community?
I realize I'm late to the party and the only people still playing this will be the hardcore, who'll thrash me unrelentingly, but it's ok

1.Im pretty sure they can (or will be in the next update? :/ ) You just wont be able to select the ss4ae chars.
2.Dont know but i bought vanilla sf4 because it was cheap in a steam sale 9.99.

Personally id just get SSf4AE unless u think its too much

SF4 owners cannot play with AE players. SF4's online is mostly dead now that AE recently got released.

AE is brand new so deffinately get that if you want to play online. I can always find many people to play against.
