Hi All
I quite like the look of the Shuttle SD37P2 because it has space for 3 HDDs but I am worried about the airflow cooling for the drives. I really do like to keep everything cool especially the drives.
So, I thought with the advent of SATA dives I could look at using external HDD cases (fan cooled of course - just have to ID suitable ones) using an external SATA port. However, the SD37P2 does not have eSATA ports!
Can anyone suggest a suitable Intel SFF with space for 2 HDDs (well cooled) but with eSATA for use with such external drives.
The reasoning behind this aspect of the specification is that I need to use it for Photo editing and digital video - my current setup is multi drive/multi partitioned (Win 98se and Win 2000 dual boot) - the planned build needs the primary drive partitioned to separate the OS (WinXP SP2) and the programs etc with the second onboard HDD for the scratch drive and interim file storage. The external drives will be for data/file storage & I will likely run backup software to mirror the contents of the onboard data with two external drives such that I can rotate out one of them off site for backup protection.
Any guidance & feedback especially about the SFF choice and best external eSATA (drive) cases would be very welcome.
Not intending to overclock but I need a fast stable platform to run Photoshop and my video editing software.
TIA
PS Just finished some extra 'research' and realised that there are PCI eSATA cards the SD37P2 has two PCI Express slots all it would need is the right expansion card - but what is the best PCI Express eSATA card that does not cost a fortune?
