Which should I get? Sandy Bridge or not?

Hi guys, I need your expert advice. Thanks in advance.

I have already ordered the 1366 motherboard and i7 listed below, but the motherboard is out of stock and has not been dispatched yet. I am thinking if it's worth exchanging my unopened processor for a Sandybridge one and getting a new motherboard dispatched.

  1. 1366 Socket

    • Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz - £221.99
    • Asus P6X58D Premium - £245.10
    • TOTAL £467.09

  2. 1155 Sandybridge

    • Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz - £232.99
    • Asus P8P67 DELUXE - £189.98
    • TOTAL £422.97

Notes:
  • I almost certainly won't be overclocking.
  • I am building an entire system, not just these 2 components.
  • This is an important purchase, and I want a system that will provide excellent gaming performance for at least 2 years without any upgrades.

Questions

  1. How much difference is there between the processors?

  2. How much difference is there between the motherboards?

  3. Which package is better value for money?

  4. Is Sandybridge worth it? Why is it cheaper?

  5. I am on a budget of roughly £450 max, but to be honest, if I am simply paying for features that compliment overclocking, I don't know if it's worth it. I would rather pay less and still have great performance (for the average non-overclocking Joe). Is it worth it for me to get the 1366 motherboard in the first place or would I be fine with the next one down?

  6. If you could choose another combination, what would you get, given my situation?

  7. Not reading much good about the P8P67 DELUXE...
