I want to run some HD content through my 40" 1080P TV from the PC; I have been offered a NV 9600GT for about £85 or a ATI 4850 for £122; the 9600GT has a HDMI socket. Which should I choose and why? Is either of the software better for these tasks?

Thanks

does hd content just mean media like blu-ray or would you be doing other things with the card such as gaming?

if just media, i say get a 3450 or 3650, if gaming, i say 4850 ,mainly due to the better hd stuff on ati cards

The 4xxx series has 7.1ch LPCM over HDMI and much better video decode offloading than nVidia. But that's a big price difference there, if you're gaming the 4850 is a no brainer but if it's just video there are alterantives to both.
