I'm fedup of a large case and watercooling. I'm not looking to upgrade anything much at all and i know my chip will clock (opteron), so if the shuttle can clock well it's a bonus....if not, it's not that worrying.

I need to get 3 hard disks in it, with two in a raid array.
one optical drive
2 pci cards - graphics card is an x850xt and will need a single slot after market cooler to fit? The other PCI card is my sound card....i can't live without dolby digital now!

can't think of much more it will need.....needs to be quiet obviously with as many USB ports etc as poss.

any ideas?

I was tempted to go with a conroe so i'm not sure if that little upgrade would be worth it?

i've had a think, i guess i could get away with two.

it would mean swapping my 2x74gb raptors for a 150gb. and my 2 160gb samsungs for a 300/400gb.

shouldn't cost too much to upgrade them.

just trying to work out which shuttle to get.

want quiet and secy looking :D

considering the conroe root.....just got to find the right shuttle.

the only shuttle that supports conroe is the SD37P2 but OcUK dont stock it(i think its been released now??), eitherway you can bet shuttle will charge a small fortune for it

seen it for £350? would rather OCUK get it in though....??

Its_me - I was thinking that too....shouldn't be too uch problem getting a HDD in the floppy cage.

I seen the SD37P2 forsale for about £304 +delivery I got mine a few days ago.. It will fit 3 Hard disks..BUT it has two PCI-E slots (crossfire support)..NO PCI slots!!!!

The SN25P supports Opteron PCI-E and Has 1 PCI slot (I think!!!!!) should have no problems getting 3 disk in there

AS for DOlby Digital..is there an external box you can get???

GJUK

mmm, bugger.....wanted my mystique card in there for dolby digital encoding. are there external boxes which will do this?

I guess a smaller, quieter and quicker box would be better than DD.

Can you do me a favour? send me a couple of pics of yours? the website pics never do anything justice.

IMO a MATX case and chassis is a much better option...

Silverstone Sugo, MATX conroe board etc is more versatile and cheaper (even takes an ATX PSU, so no power worries) ... its slightly larger, but still much smaller than a tower :)

which board though?

I've got a seasonic 600w PSU now which i was only going to sell on, so i could use that.

u could always buy a shuttle that fits 2 hds and buy a nice looking external hd

as for the sugo i use 1 and love it :)
and u could fit 3 hds in it if u use 1 of the rom bays with a hd convter init

I'm sure there are plenty of ways of adding more drives. Can you get firewire boxes to put external HDDs in? that would be ace.

the review doesnt exactly set the world alight does it?

I'm not looking to overclock much with it anyway. The idea of me going to a shuttle is to have a small/quiet pc.

i'm going to have to get a single slot cooler for my GPU so i can have my sound card in there too going by the review of the sound.

How are you finding it so far?

why don't shuttle put atleast one PCI slot in their NON SLI machines?

Plenty of people still have things like TV cards and sound cards they want to use?

i would go for the SD37P2 and a conroe but the reviews i've read on the sound isn't great and i'm used to good sound.

how true..lol..well it not that bad..but then there a lot better sound solutions out there......I have read people using a External Firewire sound solution

GJUK

really?

I asked in the sound forum and no one knew of any external encoders?
