Hi,

I'd like to spend my spare time for old hobby - music production. Ages ago I started with some trackers, so it's a way I can do it. In the meanwhile I've bought keyboard and good sound card with MIDI (Delta 2496). My wife has got an electric guitar, so I can "borrow" it ;-)

Which soft is most suitable for me ? It doesn't have to be modest one, I can buy old, used version, like Cubase 3 SE. The problem is I have no idea what is on the market now. I've heard about ProTools, Sony Acid, Fruit Loops.

I'm going to make some classic music, with rock&pop colours, it might be electronic (like early Jarre). Soft must have MIDI & ASIO support, I'm going to mix MIDI with samples & live recordings (line in, if possible) & VST tracks. It's preferable to work under WIndows 7, but I've got XP, too. Oh.. and I don't want to spend too much for it, 100 pounds and more is too much as I think, so it's why I allow older versions. It doesn't have to contain "creative" tools - just sequencer & mixer & no latencies.

Any ideas, please ? I'd like to stick to one soft and use it as long as it takes ;-)
I consider Cubase 3 SE (but it's because I don't know any other tool, except names :))

Thank you

Adobe Audition if money isn't a concern. Don't think it's that expensive. Used to be Cool Edit Pro and Adobe bought them out. Pretty damn epic.
