I have just purchased Razer Tiamat 7.1 and am now looking for a good sound card to go with them. I'm not interested in people telling me to refund them as there are better and even cheaper headsets, I like Razer - I play games and they look good and do what they're meant to. I'm a gamer not an audiophile :).

That said and done, what 7.1 sound card should I be buying? Xonar D2X? Something lower? Higher?

Please and thank you in advance :)

While I'm not a fan of such headsets, I'm sure a sound card would be an improvement over onboard audio. Then again, there are people who can't tell. Maybe it would be best to use it with your onboard audio first and see what you think.

If you think there is room for improvement, then for gaming I'd probably go for a Creative SB Z. Those that bought it are pleased with it, and being a Creative card, probably better for gaming than a Xonar. The OEM version is a good price at £53. No point going for the retail version, as you would be paying for a microphone you wouldn't use.
