Which soundcard - music production

I've just been given one of these midi controllers so now I need a new sound card for my PC

!
The controller comes with Cakewalk LE software so that will do for now, so can I get some suggestions for a sound card that's going to be suitable for music production. I hear people mentioning Audiophile, they any good???

What do you plan to record?
Will you be using microphones?

. I don't suppose I'll be doing any vocal stuff or live instruments at the moment, I just want to find my feet with this controller keyboard and various software packages. At a later date I might look into vocal stuff and more advanced hardware bits.

The M-Audio Audiophile 2496 or 192 will be fine for your needs for now I should imagine.

You will need to look at pre-amps if you want to record mic level stuff though.

If it's just for monitoring MIDI I'd go with the 2496.
