Hey all,

thinking of getting a new soundcard to replace my old sound blaster live 5.1 (£20 from from NO COMPETITORS lol)

Anyway what i want out of a new card is support for 5.1 speakers and i tend to listen to a lot of music as well as play the odd game here and there,

I had a look at creatives x-fi range on ocuk but i think thier a bit overkill for what i want.

what can you guys reccommend?

Cheers

What speakers do you have btw? Audigy 4 7.1 OEM for £35 is a cheaper alternative to the X-Fi. Something by M-Audio maybe?

I havn't got the speakers yet, was looking at the Logitech Z-5500(SP-021-LG)

forgot, would also like a 5.25" bay included with the card, was looking at the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (SC-024-CL),

Is this card any good? or is it worth going the extra with the X-Fi range?

Not the best for music?

I take it theyre better than the onboard of an ASUS a8n-sli premium? :P

Or most onboard audio for that matter....

I am also looking to get a sound card to replace my onboard audio, just so i can have a sound card dedicated to playing the sounds in my games, rather than having to you extra cpu resources etc for the onboard sound.....?

Any recommendations?

I was going to get the ZS range a few months back, im not too fussed if it has the front panel bay or not, the ones im looking at are:

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music oem or retail i guess @ £58.69 / £82.19...And of course theres the version of this card that comes with the speakers also @ £96.94...

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum @ £123....Any real improvment over the above?

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card @ £72.38....

I'm currently just running two labtec speakers with the subwoofer, cant remember what model rite this second tho :)

All ideas appreciated.
