Currently have the behringer uca202 connected to my PC and JBL Studio 530 Speakers with SVS PB2000 Subwoofer what amp do you guys think would be best for this setup?

Would something cheap like the SMSL SA50 do the job just fine or would I have to spend more to get the most out of my new speakers?

Really want to get the best sound after spending so much $$ on the sub and speakers so any help would be great cheers ;)

From what I can see, the SVS sub doesn't have high level input, just line level RCA input. This rules out class T amps, such as the SMSL and others, as they have no RCA output.

You'll need a full size amp with either pre or subwoofer output. Monitor Audio A100 is the cheapest I know of that has pre out, which is £130 at Richer Sounds. It's a very good value amp with built in DAC and WiFi.

I see, that amp is not powerful enough for my speakers but I noticed the YAMAHA AS501 has lots of power will this one be fine?

If you're referring to the A100 not being powerful enough, then yes it is. 50W per channel is lot more than you'd think. I assume you're going by the speakers maximum wattage rating, which is the most they can take without risking damage, probably around the 100W mark. That doesn't mean the speakers require an amp which puts out near to 100W though.

85W into 8 Ohm is a lot of power. Really, more than the majority of bookshelf sized speakers with a single woofer needs. I'd expect that kind of power would be more required with larger multiple woofer floor standing speakers.

The A100 puts out 50W @ 8 Ohm. The JBL 530's are 6 Ohm, so are an easier load for the amp than 8 Ohm speakers. You'd actually get more power from the amp because they are an easier load. Maybe 60W or more.

My speakers are about the same in specs as the 530's. 5.25" woofer, 6 Ohm and around 100W maximum power handling. My amp puts out 50W into 8 Ohm, and if I went anywhere near 70% volume I reckon I'd be deaf fairly quickly. :p Normally I have the volume somewhere around 40%.

The Yamaha AS501 looks like a nice amp though and has a dedicated subwoofer output, so if you'd prefer that, no reason not to go for it. Just thought I'd explain 85W power output is not necessary.

If you've got a Richer Sounds store near you, you could always go along with your speakers and ask for a demo, or just ask for a demo with speakers they have that are of similar spec.

You are seriously underestimating the power of the A100.

I have tried mine on the 30 years old sealed (with no port) B&W floorstander speakers that I got from my old man, and my A100 can push even that with some power to spare :p
