Mainly need them for listening to music, but i'm not sure which to go for. I was looking at some nearfield monitors, but i'm not sure if they'll have the bass i'm after. I was also looking at the z2300s, which are cheaper and look pretty good. Any ideas?

Cheers

Nah i haven't looked at those untill you mentioned it. They seem pretty good, but i've had no experience at all with that brand. Any ideas how they compare with the logitechs?

Until recently you could have got hold of a set of Audica MPS1 speakers for around £100.

Have you looked at the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 system??

I got a bargain on a pair of the MPS1 about 12 months back. At the discounted price they're well worth the money, not sure I'd have paid the £250 RRP tho!

Well made, compact size and look good in solid aluminium. Plenty of power from the separate amp box and they've got a really good soundstage.

Acoustic Energy are a British speaker company which have been around for over 20 years and even make Hifi speakers over £1000. The AE1 is a classic British standmount speaker.

I had a look at some other alternatives and these maybe be better than the Aego M:

They are basically active standmounters and can be had for £130 and under.

If you want something a bit cheaper and smaller this 2.1 system also looks quite nice:

It is around £70.

I had the MPS1 and they were awful, crackly and the sound wasnt great. The Aego's are great, I still use some on my Lappy, but I now use a separate amp and pair of Lektor bookshelf speakers attached to a Asus Xonal Essence STX on my main Desktop. The sound quality is second to none.

I should not read these threads, makes me want to buy an Essence a nice amp and some decent bookshelf speakers. :p Probably a good thing I have no money to do such a thing, if I did have, I would have no money for anything else! :)

Yehh i'm seriously considering those Aegos now. Just concerned about the output. What are they like compared to the logitechs? I hear the logitechs are very loud, but its only due to the bass (maybe a little too much bass). Will the aegos fill say a 14'x14' room comfortably?
