hi guys was just wondering how much of a difference in fps i would get between these two systems in games (mainly crysis):

an E2180 oc'ed to 3.2 with 2 gig and an 8800gt superclocked

an Q6600 at stock with 2 gig and a 8800gt stock

its basically best bang for buck that i am looking for because the E2180 will save me quite a lot, thanks

Methinks the E2180 would be quicker due to higher CPU clockspeed and higher GPU clockspeed. The extra two cores wouldn't effect current games much since most don't even use two cores.

I'd also go with the E2180, the lack of L2 cache and 2 fewer cores isn't likely to make a huge difference at present for most games. However I'm not sure I'd spend extra money on the superclocked 8800GT if there is much of a price difference, most will probably overclock at least that far anyway. :)

hmmm okay, well the superclocked one with crysis is £205 and the normal one is is £176 considering u get crysis and the overclocking it doesnt seem too bad a deal. and besides wont i be able to overclock the superclocked one more than a regular one so that its crazy fast?

Maybe you could, but they're essentially the same card, one just comes from the factory with firmware that pre-overclocks it. If you were going to buy Crysis anyway it doesn't seem like too bad a deal. :)

50mhz on the core and 100mhz on the Ram isn't a particularly large amount but it is guaranteed to do that speed I suppose which the other isn't although I would be mildly stunned to find it couldn't. However as Billy says, if you want Crysis then the price isn't too bad at all. :)
