Which temp reading do I trust?

I have a Thermaltake bigwater SE and im getting idle temps of 45 degrees. before with stock fan i got 49. But I have a display that has probs for differnet parts, I have stuck one on the bottomn of the water block, not between the cpu and the block but just below, very close to the cpu and am getting readings of 36 degrees. Which one is correct? In the bios it has the same temps ( 45) I just updated my bios today too.

I would go with the motherboard temps, they will probably not be accurate but they should allow you to compare with others with a same board & similar setup.

In that vein, those temps seem high to me. My m8 has that board on water - 30 idle 40 load and I have the Asus A8N-SLi Premium 30 idle 42 load, both running X2 4400 @ 2600 1.4v Though I dont know what the airflow is like through your case or for example if its next to a radiator :) ours both show the motherboard between 30 & 33 degrees.

Hope that helps.

My temps are abot 44 idle 56 load. When i clear the cmos and reboot the first time i get into windows everest reports low 30s for idle and low 40s for load. Subsequent reboots go back to the original values. The motherboard readouts cannot be trusted. Go with the probe reading.

A similar thing happens with me too, when i boot windows and turn on mbm i idle at 35-38º after afew hours of being idle mbm will say the temp has gone to 46-50º but as soon as i reboot temps will read back at 35º literally 20 secs after it was being reported at 50º

I have the termaltake rocket liquid cooling system, very similar to the bigwater setup. So these readings of 50º worried me abit. so i installed 2 thermaltake water temp indicators in the loop, one before the cpu and one after. I now get readings of 33-36º idle pushing upto 43-45º load the only diff being as soon as my comp is idle again the temp starts to drop back into the 30's were as mbm will not start to drop and stay in the high 40's of course untill i reboot and mbm goes back to 34-36º

So go of the probe, as motherboard temps cant be trusted.
