Hello dudes was thinking about overclocking my cpu so started to run prime95 after some advice form another thread to see what kinda temps i'm getting, however all the temp programs i'm using are giving different results and i dont know which to believe.

Could someone tell me which is the most accurate out of Realtemp, Speedfan and coretemp.

And could you tell me if these temps are ok with my current set up :-

Q6600 at stock with Corsair H50 with 2x Apche fans cooling radiator push/pull

Here is a link to a screeny I just took whist using the prime95

And if these temps are ok , would I be able to get my chip to 3.0ghz ish?

Coretemp is probably the most accurate, Speedfan has never really proved itself to be amazingly accurate, More of a general monitor. And Realtemp is shoved in the middle of those two.

You should be able to get 3.0ghz with stock volts or a slight increase, though being an older B3 stepping q6600, your cpu will tend to run a bit hotter than a similairly clocked GO stepping.

The latest version of speedfan and coretemp should give the same temperatures. You may wish to check what Coretemp and Realtemp are using as the TJMax temperature..

'Officially' this is 90c I believe from Intel (if my memory is correct!), most of the 'older' temperature readings you will see have a TJMax at 100c... I think Realtemp runs at 95c which is considered now the more accurate TJMax after testing done over at XS forums..

I suspect the difference you see is due to the software's using different TJMax values
