hi, I recently bought one of those Noctua NH-U12P cpu coolers and it comes with its own thermal compound. I also have some arctic silver 5 - anyone any idea which one is better to use? or will it not make any difference? Its on a q9550 processor. Also any advice on the application of this would be much appreciated as I've never done it before!

Thanks in advance for your help :)

I had the exact same scenario as you, Q9550, AS5 and the stuff that come with my NH-U12P, I personally went for the AS5... mainly cos I paid for that, so wanted to use it :)

hmmm cool thanks guys :) think i'll use the AS5 stuff then. Incedently that NH-U12P thing is lot bigger than it looks in the pictures! :p

I think the Noctua does better in reviews than AS5, but don't quote me on that :p

Personally I prefer OCZ freeze as its cheap, non conductive and performs better than most other pastes.

I used to swear by AS5, but have noticed a difference by switching to MX-2, found it easier to use as well!
