Seems to be about 6 AIRCOOLING thermalrights on the market at the moment which one cools the best with the lowest noise and will cool a 57003dx that im going to pick up to throw in my old AM4 setup. Using a B450 tomahawk max motherboardf now they're so cheap I thought why not.

Much Appreciated to anyone who gives their time to help.

I use a Thermalright AQUA ELITE 360 V3 aio on my 5700X3D and it does a tremendous job. And looks good too.

Would defiantly recommend having a look at that one mate.

Prefer an aircooler to be fair. The case its going in is an old Silverstone tj-09. Mounting of recent AIOs maybe an issue in such an old case.

A £15 Thermalright Assassin King (the 5 heatpipe version) would be fine, I'm running one on a 5800X3D with a -30 offset and my temps are spot on regardless of what I play.

That said, £30 for the Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit isn't a bad bet as HSF's pretty much last forever as long as there's available mounting brackets, in a few years you might want to use it to cool something that runs warm.

I believe the Phantom Spirit Evo (v2) is the best of the bunch currently.

Bigger coolers with more heatpipes usually run quieter at same temps. Sure, cheaper/smaller coolers will do the job, just won't be as quiet doing it. ;)

PS120E (Phantom Spirit w/ 6x 6mm heatpipes), PS120 SE (Phantom Spirit w/ 7x 6mm heatpipes), PA120 (Peerless Assassin w/6x6mm heatpipes), FS140 (Frost Spirit 4x 8mm heatpipes rated 255w TDP), FC140 (Frost Commander w/ 5x 8mm heatpipes rated 275wTDP ) are all twin tower 6x or more heatpipe coolers. All are mid 30s'.

Even Thermalright's single tower coolers like Burst Assassin 120 has 6x 6mm heatpipes in single tower is rated 245w TDP for even less money than twin towers. Even AS120V2 w/ 4x 6mm heatpipes is rated 235w TDP for very low price.

Little Assassin King 90 w/ 5x 6mm heatpipes is rated over 200w TDP, ... very small and very low price.

As a person with a 5700x3d I can confirm with a -25 offset any 120mm cooler will keep the cpu cool.

Under game load the cpu hits about 64w max in my experience

A PA120 was the fans fixed at 600rpm will keep the cpu cool and wil run silent

I have -30 PBO on mine and am using a HDT-1283. The fan broke years ago so I'm only using a 1200rpm one. Prime95 pulling 110W gets it up to 80Cish. I think the problem is as much heat dissipation through the chip as much as the cooler.

I think as mentioned any 120mm tower cooler will do the job. The Burst Assassin(?) has an extra heat pipe over the the budget one. I would probably go for that one being about 1/2 the price of the PA.

I've just updated to a 5700X3d, and kept the bog standard AMD cooler that came with the 3700X. It's keeping the temps down fine, but this fan has historically annoyed me a bit cause it gets a bit loud a bit quick. If I want to go with a different cooler, does it still use the same clip mechanism to attach like my existing cooler, or does it require changing the hardware on the motherboard.

Most coolers have custom backplate and mounting ,therefore need to change the original .

Usually the budget low end fit .

What's your budget?

As asked, what is your budget?

Your Fractal Define 6 case supports coolers up to 185mm tall .. tallest I know of is Thermalright TRUE Spirit 140 Power standing 165-166mm tall. Front of twin tower coolers usually overhang RAM sockets. A few are offset back and/or use 120mm front fan to clear taller RAM. I think your Corsair Vengeance is 44mm tall. I would get a cooler that either fits behind RAM or has 120mm front fan so top of fan is about 166-170mm. Many of the best twin tower coolers perform almost as well (1-3c difference) with just middle fan.

Just a few bits of trivia; top of CPU IHS is 7.5-8.1mm above surface of motherboard. Top of RAM socket is about 8mm above surface of motherboard. Ram seats into socket about 5mm, so top of RAM is 3mm taller than RAM height specification. ;)

Thermalright has some of the very best coolers on the market, and definitely has the best prices. Several Thermalright coolers cool as well as very best costing 2 to 3 times, sometimes even more than other top tier cooler in their group.
