I have a 3960X on pre order. The rig will be used for gaming as well as running a VMware lab. I don't expect to need more than 3x m.2 slots given the capacity of NVMe drives now, plus I have a NAS on a 10 Gbit network with oodles of storage.
Initially I'm going to be running 128GB of RAM but the intention will be to push this up to 256GB of RAM, hence TR rather than regular Ryzen 3.
I don't know much about AMD boards or overclocking, I don't think I will be OC much, probably let it auto overclock if that's possible. The importance will be focused on stability under high CPU and memory load. 10 Gbit while nice is not necessary as I have a Mellanox card already.
I've used Gigabyte for my past few builds but I'm open to suggestions. Also, any idea when the boards will be in stock?
