Comparing the 32Gb models, how much difference is there between them? Is it worth the extra £140 for the iPad 2?

In terms of battery life they should be identical? How do they fair elsewhere in terms of usage? :)

After using my iPhone on Iso 5 its loads smoother than Is04 on iPhone 4. SO at a guess I would so ISo5 on iPad 1 will be lot smoother.

Depends what sort of deal you can get on iPad 1. I seem to remember over on hotukdeals you could pick up a ipad64 GB 3g for £399.

But on Egay you can get a 16 GB WIFI for £360~

Hope that helps

Get an iPad 2 unless you can get a hefty discount on an iPad. The original will still be good, but 5 months into the release of the latest model with a new version of the OS imminent it's a no brainer to go for the iPad 2 IMO.

It largely depends on what you intend to use the device for, personally i'd gain very little by upgrading from 1 to 2. A significant wadge of cash saved however would be more attractive but it's down to your needs and wallet :)

Neither - they're both drenched in blood.

Thanks for all the replies guys :)

My head says go for the iPad 1 as it's cheaper (£339 vs £479 for the 32Gb), however my heart says go for the iPad 2 as it's more futureproof. The thing that bugs me with my iPhone 3GS is that when viewing multiple web pages, switching back and forth results in a reload due to memory constraints. This is the same issue on the iPad 1.

In terms of size of the device, which would you recommend? 16Gb or 32Gb?

Well me personally I struggled to fill my 16gb when I had one. What with iTunes home sharing and other apps that let you stream stuff from your home computer I didn't see the need in going any bigger.

I got the ipad 1 from refurb for my wife because it will be a stop gap until the Ipad 3. For what she uses it for surfing and story books for my son it's perfectly fast enough.

The 2 wasn't a large enough upgrade for me to warrant the extra money. Hopefully the 3 will be, fingers crossed.

Future proof didn't worry me too much because by the time stuff won't run on the original ipad I will have a newer version and the ipad 1 will be just kicking around the house playing music and a web browser.
