Ok so im stuck here!

I have exactly £200 to spend on a GPU. I could maybe push a little extra but not much at all really.
I'm running a single monitor setup @ 1080p. I'm currently using a 7850 2gb and its been great but getting towards the end of its life as its been overclocked from day 1.
I want an improvement on my current fps rate, so much so that i can just pop in the card and game at full settings, without the need of overclocking it.
Id like to achieve more than my current 30-40 fps max, because at high settings it does struggle with most intense games.
is it possible? And which card is best to go for here? Do i really need the top end of my budget 290x to do this?
Can i save myself £40 ish and go lower down the tree?
Any advice or opinions please?

Top end cards here:
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 290X 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £233.99 Id prefer not to spend this much
1 x MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £214.99 My first choice really
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 780 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM (78XNH5DN9IST) £193.99 Also an option but reference cooler i have no experience with them.

So these are the less powerful cards i have to choose from:
1 x KFA2 Geforce GTX 770 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM (77XPH6DV6KVX) £169.99
Are these enough to do it?
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 280 TurboDUO 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99

The GTX780 will do 1080P all day long.

That 290X is reference so is hot and sounds like a leaf blower.

I am starting the question the fact that they may actually have used a leaf blower as a soul object in a inspiration room when designing there new cooler

The 780 is the best overall choice IMO. Great performance which still holds it's own with the 290X. The plus is it's a much cooler/quieter card.

So were saying that 780 is better than the non reference cooled MSI 290?
Is it worth the extra £20 or so for more Vram?
I just want to be sure you see. I made this mistake last time when i bought the 7850. I should have just gone a little higher for not much more cash.
Im not looking for overclocking at all here. But a quick bench chart has the 290 ever so slightly on top of the 780. In real life terms is it that different?
Iv been amd biased for years but im open to change. Iv not experienced nvidia so im kinda swaying there.
£20 is a fair saving after all right?

Opinions will vary as both are good, though from what I've heard the cooler on that card (780) is actually pretty good. And as it's a little cheaper, that makes it the best value for money when considering buying brand new. I run a 1.1 ghz 7970 @ 1200p, so I very much think a 780 will handle 1080 with ease. :)

Yeah your right @1080p that 780 will be fine. Thanks for that. And thanks for the input guys. Im gonna save myself the £20 and go for the 780. Im never going to be going higher than 1080p for a long time so no reason to overspend i guess.
Wish me luck :)

Sorry to do this, but I've just remembered that 'I think' with some 290 cards you get some game codes which can be sold, thus making it either as good a value purchase or even better in that regard. That said, in your shoes I would still go for the 780, but regardless, I thought it was only fair to mention it to you.

True, you get the gold award which gives you 3 games.

You can get Star Citizen and Alien Isolation, they're worth quite a bit.

Ah well iv ordered now anyway! I did miss that little extra.
It does say you get Borderlands pre-sequel with it so not all that bad either. Tbh i fancied a try with nvidia anyway.
But thanks for the info!
