For xmas I want to get my missus sat nav. She has had a PDA for a couple of years, its a Dell axim x30 (think its the 624mhz version). It only has one mmc memory slot but is bluetooth enabled.

What will be the best version of tom tom that will work on this and can anyone recommend a gps receiver (think it might need to be bluetooth due to the 1 mmc slot).

Whilst I am at it I'll need a cradle and car charger so if anyone has this PDA then can you recommend a cradle/charger.

Many thanks,

I have a Dell Axim X30 624Mhz.

I use TomTom 5 but V6 is the latest software. I have a cradle/car mount and a wired GPS receiver which is also from TomTom.

A bluetooth GPS receiver will also work no problems but the battery in them is only really any good for a few hours or so, so not good for long journeys.

I use the tomtom 5 bluetooth jobby, it comes with a car charger so battery shouldnt be to much of a problem

I also enjoy the ability to use it in other cars or even walking :)

it works flawlessly with the latest software and my Loox 720 :D

TomTom 5 will be fine on the Axim. I use it on the original iPAQ H3630 and it's fine on 206MHz/32Mb and PPC2002. TomTom 6 won't install as it requries PPC 2003.

Arkon make powered GPS cradles which might sort the other problem. They need permanent power for the GPS which can be a problem with some Mrs' as they get narky about cables making the car look untidy!

Can anyone advise if TomTom6 will work on an iPAQ 5550 (400mhz/128mb Ram), it has PPC2003 but looking on the TomTom website doesn't really offer much help (or at least i couldn't find any).

cheers
