Hi guys, looking for some help deciding which tyres to go for. I am looking to replace all four tyres, which are: 195/45/R16.

I currently have mixed budget tyres which came on the car, which are 'a chilles', 'milanza hero' & 'accelera'!

I was going to buy Toyo Proxes T1-R's, but I have read they don't last very long at all - So I am looking for good all rounder's, rather than something which will offer insane grip but won't last very long at all!

I would like to spend around £70-80 per corner?

Car is a Fiesta Mk6.

Cheers,
Adam.

Hi bledd, sorry I forgot to include that in my original post.

£70-80 puts you into the top end of the premium range on camskill & blackcircles.

With blackcircles, you get triple Tesco clubcard points on some tyres..

Continental Premium Contact 2, £75, double points

edit, cheaper on camskill

http://camskill.co.uk/m62b0s94p6092...NTIPREMIUMCONTACT_2_-_195_45R16_84V_XL_FR_TL_

Has come first in lots of tyre tests, see here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Continental/Premium-Contact-2.htm

Sport Contact 3 is around the same price, but I imagine it will wear a bit quicker, no idea how long they generally last.

T1r's are great on the mk6 but last around 6-7k (best griping tyre iver had in wet and dry)

Yoko S drive - best gripping tyre in the dry but hurrendous in the wet so bad i took them off before there life were up.

Im on kuhmo's atm and they have lasted about 10k average tyre, great for the price

My contisports good all rounders last upto 15k miles have a price tag of about £80 (or did)

Im due a new set so id be intrested in this too.

Thanks for the help Bledd.

Would you recommend the Conti's over the Toyo Proxes T1-R's then for the Fiesta?

I heard they don't last very well if you like a fast drive, and cornering quick? As mentioned in my OP, I have only ever had budget tyre's, so im not looking to get insane grip and have them wear quickly.

If so, that would leave me choosing between the Conti SP2 and SP3's as they are priced very much the same.

Are Hankook tyre's any good? Such as the Ventus S1 Evo K107? My local garage seem to highly rate this brand.

EDIT:

Hi cwhitehead, which Kumho's are they? As Black circles have the Kumho Ecsta HM KH31's for £69.79 fully fitted with triple clubcard points at the minute.

Cheers,
Adam

KH31 aren't near as good as S1 Evo or the Conti's.

KH31 are a very mid range tyre.

S1 Evo get great reviews

I think mine are the old KH33's but not 100% will check on dinner.

Never tried hankook but heard some good reveiws.

I wouldnt buy T1R's again unless i wanted to do some track time or on a limited budget for a few months.

Continental Premium Contact 2 these would get my vote, or even the new versions Continental Premium Contact 5 if they are available in your size.

Looks like I will be buying either the

Continental Premium Contact 2's @ £353.80 fitted
or the
Hankook Ventus S1 Evo K107's. @ £339.08 fitted

Decisions, decisions!

Just make sure there is no mix up between the Conti premium and sport contacts. Personally I would have the hankook over the premiums, better grip but will wear a little quicker. Have had premium contacts previously too and they were fine though, good grip levels and very hard wearing.

I recently bought 4 conti sport contact 3's for my fiesta, 195/45 R16 £320 fitted inc tracking.

The grip is crazy, especially coming from 4 budget tyres (sunnys + events) on the car previously, but as you say, I have a feeling these won't last very long.

What you reckon guys?

Id go for it, But id want to know how many miles you get out of them. my biggest thing with tyres is how fast they wear, was especially disapointed when the T1R's lasted 6k

I've had the Hankook V12 Evos on two big heavy cars and the wear on them is pretty good no real problems, the Pirellis on my wifes Zafira seem to be made of cottage cheese.

Which Conti's would you recommend Fox? Premium or Sport contact? 2 or 3?

Keeping in mind I would rather tyres that last longer, as I won't exactly be pushing them as such!

Cheers,
Adam.

Premium contacts will last longer than the sportcontacts, having said that I've done over 25k on my sc3s and they still have 4mm ish left. I did rotate them though.

10k on my SC3's (or the one that didn't need to be replaced) at the front and down to about 5mm - Rears have masses of tread left and are going on the front so I expect to see 25k+ easily

As previously stated premium contacts last longer, sacrificing a bit of grip
