Which ultra-wide monitor?

Hi,

Been thinking of upgrading my monitor and moving to an UW, ideally want to stick at 1440p but not against 4K. Ideally must be 144hz (nvidia user) with HDR (if possible) and low input lag and will be mainly used for gaming. What is the “go to” choice at the moment? Currently using a TN panel and I keep reading about IPS glow issues? Any suggestions would be great, ideally under a £1000 but would be flexible with budget.

Thanks.

What you're describing is the LG 34GK950F, which is the only monitor available right now that matches your preferences without sacrificing anything AFAIK.

Otherwise, there are a couple of other options with 120 hz and without HDR like the LG 34GK950G and Alienware AW3418DW with IPS, and Acer Predator Z35P with VA. Things broaden out again @ 100 Hz, so definitely a nice ultrawide pyramid shape going on with just the LG 34GK950F at the pinnacle by itself :p

The Acer Predator X35 200hz HDR monitor is looking like it going be a great ultra wide monitor to go for if your budget can flex to it

I find it so strange people prioritise HDR performance on PC montiors when we don't have FALD or OLED screen technologies for sub <1000.

The only monitors with HDR that counts are the expensive ones (not the LG-F).

What HDR experience do you have? True HDR (OLED or Full Array Back Light Dimming) or the cheap tacked on HDR?

For £1000, you aren't getting a high end HDR performance and 144hz.

You can get rubbish HDR which isn't worth turning on and 144hz in the LG 34-F though which is an excellent monitor.
The Alienware 34 inch model has amazing warranty/support for QC concerns and is cheap now (can be had for around £700 at a discount period or with a discount code.
The CRG9 is an amazing ultrawide set which is what I'd be looking at if you can power it.

The amazing HDR sets are £1500+ at a minimum. And if you're stretching your budget that far, look at the £2000+ LG 38 inch ultrawide.

I'd personally forgot 24hz and get the AW34 and potentially buy newer tech in a year or twos time. Or if I was hellbent on spending 1k, it would be the CRG9 because rather than having a few extra hz, its just way way way more immersive, which is the whole point of 21:9 gaming.

Its blows my mind on the ultrawide masterrace reddit where people have huge £2000 monitors but they don't have any decent speakers, or a decent desk, or decent headphones.
