I will soon be getting a SSD and installing Windows 7 on it from my system CD but I know Windows will come up with a long list of updates to install.
My question is how far back down the list should I install the updates from.
I remember doing this once before and clicking on select all, but it froze up part way through installing them.
Thanks

I find there's a lot of .NET framework ones which can be gotten around by installing the latest framework yourself.

Also install SP1 properly (that'll remove a load) and there's an update rollup as well that will remove a few (I believe it's KB2775511).

The rest is just a case of being patient sadly, having an SSD will help speed up the installation a fair whack.

[Edit] A quick heads up also, at the end don't forget to grab the DirectX web installer and run that through with a restart until it tells you you're upto date. It grabs a load of files that games want (assuming you're a gamer) and will save faff down the road.

Just install ones which are auto selected first and keep doing that with reboots when needed and eventually you will have just the ones that you need to select left.

Some updates don't play well with others which could explain the freezing issue you mentioned.
