Which upgrade is best to get?

Hey guys im looking to upgrade my pc to run bf4 my current setup is :

Intel Q9550
gtx 560ti 2GB
4gb xms2 DDR2 800mhz
250 GB HDD

and ive got enough to either get the western digital caviar black 500 GB or another set of ram giving 8 GB both options cost around £50 from overclockers. my question is which one would be more viable to get, i know the 775 socket isnt worth spending on but i don't have enough for a new rig at the moment. I could use the HDD in my new rig when i eventually get it but the ram will be useless.

You have answered your own question really. As you say the HDD can be used in a new build as the memory will be useless.

but would the memory improve the gameplay of bf4 drastically? i dont mind buying the HDD in the future

Your current rig looks like it would run battlefield 4 ok as it is, a ram increase may help but DDR2 is pretty expensive now, maybe look for some used stuff on an auction site. An overclock on your CPU would probably help out quite a bit providing you have an aftermarket cooler to keep it cool and a decent enough motherboard and psu. The HDD won't increase your gaming performance, it will simply improve loading times.

Memory won't improve performance but CPU and GPU will

So on that note I'd go with the HDD

Another vote for HDD here, as the RAM isn't really going to do anything for you except give you 4Gb of RAM sat idle.

Can you not push to a 1Tb drive though? The differences are usually pretty small.

You can get a Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1Tb drive for £44 on this week only?

Would make more sense to me.
