Hey :)
Just a quick question. I have around £300 to spend on an upgrade! THis is my rig at mo..

AMD 955 Quad running at 3.6Ghz
5870 ATI
4GB of OCZ ddr3 ram
1TB HDD
My mobo

Samsung sync master t240 Monitor 24Inch (i wouldnt want to get rid of this as i love it lo)

Now ive noticed that in a lot of benchmarks thei7 Intel Core 957 seem to improve FPS in games oveer the AMD 965 (mines running an extra 0.2mhz faster than the 965) by upto 50FPS on games like GTA and Left 4 Dead. (acording to toms hardware.com) Now this is my question! Which upgrade would is ee more from?

1: Another 5870 to run in crossfire!
2: A New Intel crossfire Mobo (for around £100) + a 920 i7 (for £200) and try to overclock it to 3.33Ghz on Air.
3: Spend the £300 on a watercooling system and watercool my 955 to see if i can get it too 4Ghz..)

Thanks for ANY help you can give :D

P.s if you have any other suggestions on upgrades please feel free to say :).. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Unless its SDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Ive personaly never minded loading screens! Give me time to go have a pee and grab a drink :D

I would go for i7 rarther than extra Graphic card or watercooling. motherboard and processor are more future proof rather than Graphic card.

I guess I'd say getting the i7 would be the best option of the 3. Though do you really need to upgrade? The system you have at the moment seems to be pretty good. Do you have any problems running any games at the moment?

you dont need to upgrade, but i think your like me and like too lol

I would do one of the following
- get a ssd (speed up start up and fav apps or games or 2 and raid 0 or one for windows and apps other for games)

- watercooling (but is there any point? if your pc runs fine now on air and fans dont bother you then isn't the money better spent on something else?

I would have said pick up a i7 but there new processors out this year ant there? so maybe keep adding to what you have and get one of them when there out.. that or prob ssds lol

To be honest I don't think you would see that much difference from an i7.

Maybe a second 5870 if you have to? Although again not necessary..

Do some reading on the SSDs, i've heard they do make a difference..
If you can worry about a couple of FPS, surely halved loading times would be apparent :D

Guys...

I'd say the CPU, although what the hell are you playing which that rig isn't maxing out anyway?

thanks for the suggestions but like i said.. dont suggest SSD's :P £140 for a hard drive that makes things load 20seconds faster.. is kinda a waste of money IMO :( for £300 id wana see a BIG increase on fps and future proofing :)

Hmm.. only problem is i think i miss judged the price of the crossfire mobo's >< lol there all around £150 +£200 for the processor + god knows hw much for tie channel ram >< lol. Well ive overcocked my 955 to 3.8!! So hopefully that will help a little! Hmm i think ill get the 2nd GPU! Frombenchmarks it sems to get 75% increase on the first gpu! I think ill wait for the new Intel processors to come up (so the i7 goes down in price) and get it then :D lol
