Current setup in my signature.

On a BF3 32 man server I see fanstastic FPS (90 on average with everything turned up high on 1080p).

On a BF3 64 man server I see average FPS of around 70....but get large, faster dips into the 50's. Obviously this is a CPU issue.

I'm interested in knowing what sort of returns I would get by going for

Z77 + i7-3770K 3.50GHz or
X79 i7-3930K or
X79 i7-3820 3.60GHz

Im not liking the iGPU stuff, but it is the cheapest option. X79 would be my preference (but would involve new RAM too)

If I went for these would I see a massive improvement on 64 man servers?

Note this machine would only every be used for gaming...but if an x79 would make a difference I'm willing to go that route.

This BF3?

With 680's SLI then you're definately being bottlenecked quite a bit so you'll definately see an improvement in fps on the bigger servers.

If as you say you only use you computer for gaming then get a 3570k+Z77+decent cooling to overclock, no need for the 3770k as HT won't really help, same for more cores from a 2011 chip.

Yeah HT makes no difference for me at the moment...I guess what ever I go for I don't want my 680 sli to be bottlenecked at 1080p.
