Hi

This is my first Core2Duo, I am using a E6300 and P5KC, just a quick question...

I am at 3.5 at the moment (500x7) i would like to know which Vcore is correct (i dont want to go too far.)

Bios is set to 1.5
Bios hardware monitor is saying 1.44
cpu-Z & asus probe says 1.38

Which is most likely to be correct?
Am i right in thinking 1.5 is max safe Vcore for these CPU's (or is that too high).

edit: one further question, i have read that PLL voltage can help at high FSB's, but i have also read that it kills some cpu's so what is safe to use on this.

sorry about the noob questions just the search brings up hundreds of useless results :(

1.45 is considered the max save volts for the 65nm cpu's. I would say your don't go over what your at currently. I would say go with what CPU-Z says... Your probably getting Vdroop when your cpu is under load in windows, this is quite common. I would have a look around the internet to see if you can find a mod for your mobo that stabilizes the voltages. I found a pencil mod for my mobo and it helped tons.

Regarding CPU PLL, for my Q6600 people were recommending you don't go over 1.6v. But it might be different for you CPU. But do be careful with that indeed.

Thanks for the reply, yep pll was the one i was worried about messing with (it seems to make zero difference for me anyway).

I am prime stable at 3.5ghz @ 1.525 (bios) bios monitor says 1.44 (asus probe and cpu-z say 1.38), Most things in the bios are set to auto (spent all day today trying every setting to no avail. I only have geil value ram (6400 C5) thats runs out of steam quickly at anything over 500mhz, well either the ram or the board (i get memtest errors - test 5).

I cant fuss i was sold the cpu and mem stating a 2.8 overclock :p, so it has greatly exceeded my expectations.

As for the droop mod, i dont mind getting the solder iron out, i have done similar mods on my old P4C800. Google says people overclocking quads with the droop mod toasting a transistor in the power stage on the board, so i will leave that for now :p

Thanks again for you help.
