Hi there, I wondered if you could help me please, I was wondering when I get my new system with a directx10 card and I have to have windows vista installed to use directx10, so which version of vista is fastest for games? And should I use 32bit or 64bit? Wont 64bit produce better graphics? More richer colours?

Cheers in advance,

All versions of Vista should play games. I haven't heard anything different.

The best value for money is Vista Home Premium as it has pretty much everything you could need. 64bit is recommended if you have a 64 bit CPU. It has nothing to do whatsoever with your games. Looks like you need to go do your research :)

I know all versions will play games, I didnt mean that, but I just wondered which played them the fastest........

And as for the comments on 64bit, well I was wanting to know will 64bit reduce my PC's performance allot and should I just stick with 32bit? Or if not should I get it, because I thought 64bit meant on your desktop you can right click/properties/settings and choose 64bit colour.

Thats all I meant from this post.

Like if I went ahead and got ultimate 32bit rather then premium would it reduce my performance allot?

I just mainly want to know what operating system is best for gaming out of all the choices for vista, because the PC I have chosen on OCUK has a drop down menu asking me to choose an operating system. So just wanted some advice.

Thanks anyway,

P.S. The CPU I have chosen is Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO 2.40GHz Quad Core CPU Overclocked too a minimum of 3.40GHz and beyond. (8/9 x 400MHz - 1600MHz FSB), I have no idea if this is 64bit or not?

you're not serious are you? :D

oh dear.... :(

lol, another one

it's got nothing to do with the colour, look on wikipedia or google 'what is 64 bit'

basically lets the software writers fit in more code, the jump from 32 to 64 is nowhere near as big as 16-32 was

Well to be fair, it seems you haven't even attempted to use Google to find this stuff out. Asking about Vista is fair enough, but you really should know what it means for an OS to be 64 bit. Also, if buying a new PC, you really should know about your hardware.

64bit CPUs basically handle everything using 64bit numbers. The most obvious advantage of this is being able to address a larger amount of RAM [64bits = larger range of numbers = more addresses]. There are lots of other benefits too, but it is up to you to research that.

Since you clearly do not know what 64bit CPUs are, what it means and don't even know that you are about to buy a 64bit CPU, I suggest going for 32bit Vista.

Yes, the Intel Core2Duo and Core2Quads are 64 bit.
