Which version of Vista Ultimate?

I've got a friend who wants Vista Ultimate... he is currently running XP Pro but wishes to Upgrade not do a clean install.

Which version would you recommend?

Vista isnt reall an upgrade

But i guess it depends on his CPU specs.

If you want everything along with slowing down your pc go ultimate, otherwise dont

But ye, CPU specs would help make a decision.

If your mate wants cheap and isn't bothered about being able to move the installation from pc to pc just get an OEM version.

Ask him if he's really sure he wants Ultimate.
Most people don't need all of the features of Ultimate and can save money by looking at other versions.

OEM is the cheapest, however if he upgrades his motherboard in the future then the license agreement does say he needs to buy a new license.
Retail Upgrade would allow him to move his installation from machine to machine.

Oh and Vista is very much an upgrade from XP - don't listen to anyone who tells you any differently.
