... Assasin's Creed at 1280x720 (720p) on my HDTV, with all graphics options turned to max? My HTPC is currently using onboard graphics, alongside an Athlon II X2 245 @ 3.3GHz, and 2GB DDR2.

Thinking HD5750, but wondering if I can get away with HD5670.

I had a 5770 for a few weeks that would run it standing on its head. 1920x1080 everything on full.

Agreed, but I think that an HD5770 would be overkill for 720p - I'd be looking at ~£125, but would rather spend £30-£40 less than this.

Sorry... I should have mentioned this earlier - my Corsair 400w PSU has only 1 x PCIe power lead. Have heard bad things about using molex adaptors :(

A used 5770 for around £80 would be my choice, You get a card that will max everying at 720p and will perform well at 1080p. It's also current tech (DX11) and runs cool and quiet to

Anyone tried a 5570 at 720p? light gaming like ME2 etc (obviously not Crysis)

Anyone? (I'd also like to know as I’m in the same boat - HTPC, on-board graphics, but would like to do some light gaming (also its a HTPC so low noise/heat))
