Which video card would I need in order to run...

... Assasin's Creed at 1280x720 (720p) on my HDTV, with all graphics options turned to max? My HTPC is currently using onboard graphics, alongside an Athlon II X2 245 @ 3.3GHz, and 2GB DDR2.

Thinking HD5750, but wondering if I can get away with HD5670.

Agreed, but I think that an HD5770 would be overkill for 720p - I'd be looking at ~£125, but would rather spend £30-£40 less than this.

5670 will do 720p on its head, don't expect to run crysis at 60 fps though.

2nd hand ? I would go for the 57 only cos it will run everything. You might want want to play creed forever

If you're not fussed about DX11, the below card will power through everything at 720p and at a very good price.

But either would be suffient to some degree. Remember you get what you pay for, sometimes skimping now can mean an upgrade sooner than you would like. The 4890 is better than the 260 in most situations and the XFX version is one of the best.

+1 on the 260. Never seen one working but have seen they are better than the 57

For your budget a 4850 would do well at 720p

Sorry... I should have mentioned this earlier - my Corsair 400w PSU has only 1 x PCIe power lead. Have heard bad things about using molex adaptors

A used 5770 for around £80 would be my choice, You get a card that will max everying at 720p and will perform well at 1080p. It's also current tech (DX11) and runs cool and quiet to
