I plan to run XP Professional on one hard drive and Vista on another. I can legally get hold of a copy very cheap of Ultimate. I just need to know which is best - 32 bit or 64 bit. I would assume 64 bit but am worried about compatibility.

Let me know,

64 bit is fine, no problems with compatibility like XP64. The only issue with 64 bit is you can't run 16bit programs. Which is very unlikely you will.

Oh and vista is just the same as xp for games.

For games... XP tbh.

i would have said that up until recently, now the vista drivers are outperforming the xp ones for ati and nvidia (in most cases)

i see you're running xp pro, if you want remote desktop support, then you'll need business or ultimate (or there's a hack for rdp for premium)

all will play fine though, just disable a few things like windows defender real-time scanning

-misread the question a bit, get 64bit -the only thing i have that isn't compatible is my nova-t tv card, so my mce box has premium 32bit on it
