which vista

ive been thinking for a while to cross over to vista from xp, the question is which vista?
according to microsofts scan thingy my pc is suited for home basic.
if upgrading is needed then of course i will up the memory etc!!!

my question really is what is the best version to go for?

im running :
asus an8-sli premium
amd athlon 64 x2 4400
2gb ocz platinum
pny nvidia 7300 gs

so ive been told by microsoft to use basic, is premium needed over basic and is ultimate going over the top?

im planning to upgrade my graphics so that could be ingored and memory could be an issue so i can upgrade, right now its matched pair would i need to match 4gb so thus buying 4gb and selling my 2gb or can i jsut buy another 2gb

i dont game that much but recently been playing crysis demo and just off to town to buy full version!!!!

home premium x64 for you. basic is crap, i can't believe that got recommended. your gfx card isn't great but it's still good enough to run aero.

i know gfx is not so good but plan to upgrade soon as i have my hd 32"tv wired to pc so plan to go hd, any suggestions on gfx while we here !!!!

you'd be better off asking that in the gfx card forum. state your budget and what games you want to play and the resolution and you'll get some good recommendations.
