Howdy :)

Simple question - what vnc server software do you guys use? I've always used the free RealVNC server, but I'm getting annoyed at the slowness (RDP is not the answer, as it doesn't allow concurrent sessions). I used a mirror driver years ago, but it wasn't very successful.. so, spec me a VNC server!

i use this patch for windows 7. it allows RDP into home premium and supports concurrent connections. :)

I've tried this (or something very similar) quite recently, but it's not what I'm looking for - when I say concurrent, I actually mean same-user-same-session, a-la VNC. Unfortunately, this lets you open multiple sessions for the same user, but doesn't let you share the same session.

Cheers though :)

you can share the logged in session by opening task manager in a remote session and then clicking the "users" tab and finding the console connection, right click and "remote control". unfortunately this pops up a dialog which someone has to accept on the remote machine before it will work.

sorry i have no idea about any VNC servers as i've never had to use one. :p

Well if you dont have all the background on etc (options on toolbar of logmein app) then its quite good

Just restricted by the speed of connection line/cable

Lets put it this way i managed to successfully fix my daughters pc in australia with it and i fix customers pc's over the net with it

Its free so give it a go see what you think (there is a free version and a paid version the free version does everything i need) if its not for you just uninstall it,

just tried the paid-for version of RealVNC (with the mirror driver), and it's much better - not perfect, but far more usable :)

I suspect I'll just pony up the cash, I can't get away with free software for everything :p

Regarding the logmein suggestion, I have previously paid for the RealVNC app on my phone, and the logmein iPhone app is a horrific £18!
