Hi all sorry for another spec me thread! I bought my oculus rift cv1 when it first came out and I liked it but I wasn’t blown away by it and I’ve not really used it that much. My computer was only a 7700k and 1080ti back then though. I’d quite like to try a newer version of a vr headset to see how the tech has changed. I tried my rift cv1 today and found it pretty rubbish.

I will be using the headset for sit down experiences at the computer playing racing games/flight sims or just general vr stuff without moving around as much.

I have a virgin super hub 5 router which is wifi 6 connected to my computer by Ethernet and the router is at my desk so would a quest 2 be ok for wireless or is it worth buying the usb c cable to connect?

My computer specs are 12700k, 32gb ram and a 3080 graphics card. I wear glasses because I’m short sighted but I briefly wore my friends quest 2 without my glasses and could see and read ok enough.

Short summary, looking for a new headset for sit down experiences. Quest 2, Pico 4?

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies. I’m leaning towards a quest 2 either new or second hand. Is it essential to get the cable to pair it to the pc or will I be ok over wifi as my router is an arms length away?

I’d definitely prefer the better image quality so the quest 2 sounds better and better. I’d get the cable to connect it too. Can the quest 2 go over glasses or are prescription lenses worth it? Reading text on my monitor is blurry without my glasses.

Sorry for the late reply. I have just borrowed my dad's Quest 2 and I am really impressed with it. I can actually read the text fairly well without my glasses compared to not being able to read a thing on the cv1 without my glasses.
I used airlink to connect my pc to the headset and tried F122 in vr and thought it looked pretty good. I think I was only running at 72 hz and I didn't fiddle with any settings so I'm sure it will look even better when I get a link cable tomorrow.
Overall I'm really impressed with the Quest 2
