The 'rents will be wanting to buy me a gift for when I join the RAF and I'm considering breaking their bank with a nice watch. Problem is I don't know which one I want! :D

I was looking at getting a Breitling and a few Omega's have caught my eye. I don't really like leather straps I might add. I hoped some forum member's could post some pics of their favourites to help me choose?

To be honest i would go into a big town and go round a few decent jewellers. You will see what takes your fancy and note them down. You can then come back and scour the interwebnet for the best prices and best sources. Watches are a very personal thing and often look wildly different than in pictures.

I hear you, and that will be the plan. I just wanted to get an idea of what I wanted before I went trekking around the shops however. I can't stand "aimless" shopping, if you get me. I have to be in-and-out, no faffing :D

i love breitling watches and if i could afford one i'd defiantly get one one and there designed for pilots take a look on there website a see what you htink.

You'll have little use for a fancy watch during your training ;) Just get a cheap G-Shock for use on exercise.

edit: wow, you're going to ask for a £1000+ gift? (just realised)
I'd be happy with their support in my new career move, let alone an overpriced piece of jewellery!

I love the look of that watch. I looked at it a while back just to see what Tag had come up with. I dont doubt there are much better watches that can be had for the same amount of money, just visually appealing to moi.

Got my eye on the Breitling Chrono Avenger :D

but

The wifes going to get if for my 40th in a few years.

Spent all my 21st birthday money on a Tag many many years ago still going
strong - best money I ever spent.

any idea of budget ?

I tend not to like the lower end Breitlings but love Navitimers, Montbrillants etc, in the £1-2000 Omegas tend to be the better bet

Yar I don't intend to wear it when I'm training at Halton, it's to pose with at Chiksands and at fancy dinner's :D :p ...I suppose it could be seen as overpriced jewellery but it can also just be for the pleasure of having just that - an expensive piece of jewellery. Its also accurate and will no doubt come with some lifetime guarantee so simply put it's going to be a gift that will last me a lifetime (I hope), and that's what is important to me and my 'rents.

Up to £2.5k. I am now particularly interested in the Breitling Professional skyracer, or the Navitimer. Haven't looked at many Omega's yet.
