Spec in sig, have hit limits on air & chip/board can do more soooo...

Lucky as ocuk 1mile away so wondering what best kit is; not too much dosh.
Already have a reserator from years ago but the darn thing just kept getting hotter last time I used it on AMD. Are pipes compatible as could just get a radiator?

BEST kit ie: highest performance at lowest noise...

D-Tek FuZion on CPU - http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/7157-post1.html
DDC Ultra Pump - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=110402
PA120.3 Radiator with Scythe SFlex or Zalman ZM-3 fans - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=150261 & http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77260
Reservoir / Fillport - no significant impact on performance - go with personal preference for looks / case compatibility
Tubing - toss a coin - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=147767
GPU - Swiftech MCW60 or EK 8800GTX

But you won't get it for "not too much dosh".

I'm looking at water but a bit more bang for buck than best stuff.

I'm looking at XSPC blocks for VGA and Chip,
Black Ice Pro 3 rad,
3x Yate Loons (Nexus) 120mm,
8 ft of masterklere tubing,
D-Tek DB-1 pump (might get another if flow rate isn't up to the job),
and I'm thinking of building a res from a milkbottle or maybe going for the alphacool 500ml jobbie (not sure yet).

This should be about £100 cheaper than the previous suggestion for not a lot less performance and less noise.

EDIT:// in answer to your question you *could* use the existing reserator stuff but it's all made of Aluminium and you don't want to mix copper and aluminium in a loop. Copper parts perform better.

ta, I was thinking about the Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra although I think with a Tuniqu tower with 3x 120mm fans is as good.

what you think?

You won't see substantially better cooling from that than from a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme. The CPU block just isn't very good. For the extra £15 or so, the D-tek is much, much better. If you bought the XSPC Pump (the submerged one with the pump inside the reservoir, that would square up the costs and give you a slightly better flow rate. Also - the radiator you are suggesting is quite thoughly duff. The PA120.3 suggested by Marci is on another planet with regard to heat dissapation and it's well worth the extra £20 or so over the Black Ice.

Cheap water-cooling isn't worth doing in my opinion, but you have to find things out for yourself sometimes.

the block is good, just not for Dual core + ^_^, i would get the D-Tek Fuzion cpu block if you are getting the thermochill 120.x rad.

i would recommend D-Tek Fuzion and Thermochill pa120.(1/2) rad for a cpu/graphics setup, if you have sli then 120.3 is better.

i'd simplify that statement and say if you have room the 120.3 is always better

you have more scope down the road for adding another block etc without changing out radiators and you also have the option of using quieter fans for better performance versus the 120.2

XSPC have revised their CPU block - it now performs well - if not as well as the fuzion. I'm not looking for uber cooling I'm looking for quiet cooling - 200Mhz for silence is a good trade, 1GHz for passive is not a good trade. The fuzion is 180% if the price of the XSPC CPU block.

Can't find any comparisons of the black ice pro and the PA120.3. I was looking at the PA120.3 but it's 220% as expensive as the Black ice and the expense is hard to justify.

Just got the Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra water cooling kit & its now running 15c less than a Tunique tower + 2 extra stealth 12cm fans.

Whats interesting is I put an extra 2 stealth 12cm fans on the radiator (4 in total) & with all 4 fans running it runs hotter than with just 2 fans at 7v  maybe they are cancelling each other out

This may be a silly question but were all the fans blowing the same way (they blow in the direction of the fan guard).

I got the fans blowing hot air onto the case (no hot air getting into case) as they just happen to be by a nice cool air vent in the wall

Maybe by adding the extra fans the "blind spot" caused by the fan's motor is enlarged and the extra cooling for the rest of the RAD isn't enough to make up for it. If you're using a shroud on both sides then I give up, your temp monitor must be going backwards!

Juno, what's your impression of the Swiftech kit overall? Am looking for an easy introduction to watercooling, primarily to allow decent cooling whilst keeping noise to a minimum, so the kits like this one are quite appealing as a first step.

YATE LOON 120mm - D12SL-12 (x2)
Swiftech RadBox MCB-120 Revision 2 - Black
Swiftech MCP655-B™ 12 VDC Pump (No speed controller)
Swiftech Apogee GTX Extreme Performance CPU Waterblock (LGA775)
Masterkleer 7/16" ID (5/8" OD) PVC Tubing (x8)
12mm Hoseclips Pack of 10
Feser One - F1 - Cooling Fluid - UV RED 1ltr
Thermochill PA120.2 - Barb Size 1/2"
XSPC Bay Reservoir (Clear) - Barb Size 1/2"

That's what I was planning to get :)

I found Swiftech ok to install though no diagram in the instructions to show you the flow was hard to overcome.

Res before pump is the only one to watch, other than that it's mainly just filling / bleeding ease.

Post up some photos if you are still unsure.
