Definately getting a Silverstone Strider Series PSU but I'm not sure what wattage to get, don't want to buy a 1000watt PSU if I'm never going to use it.

Current Hardware is

Q6600 @ 3.6ghz
4gig DDR-PC2 6400
8800 GTS 512
ABIT IP35 Pro
4x 120mm fans
2x 92mm fans
x2 150gb raptor hdds
x2 wd 1tb hdds
x1 fan controller

Would a 750watt be more than enough?

I will be updating the system in the future (later this year)

Will only ever be using 1 GFX card as well.

Cheers

I was running a very similar system [email protected], 9800GTX, 780i perfectly happily on a 550W Antec Modular PSU.

A 750W supply isn't required unless you plan some heavy, power consuming upgrades in the future. As you say you will only ever be using 1 GPU then a good quality 500-600W PSU would be ideal. You could go even lower if you want, but PSUs run more efficiently at around 50% load than close to full load.

As for the silverstone strider, it is definitely a good PSU - but its a few years old now. At 80% efficiency it isn't bad, but there are superior ones for less money.

Overkill tbh unless, as mentioned you intend some serious upgrading in the near future.

My gaming pc, as per sig, is run off of a 600w psu.

FurMark+Linpack worst case draw is maybe about 350W, in actual games 50+W lower.

Nothing special in Silverstone PSUs, in fact quite a few of them are starting to get quite aged compared to modern efficiency standards.

600w is plentiful itself, you could probably be alright with 500w.

If you have any friends or relatives with 500w and 600w PSUs I would reccomend testing them out before buying one yourself.

yes it would be. But dont go higher as you wont need it with that setup.

I was told by someone at MDPC that the Strider Series are by far the best to de-pin for braiding which I will be doing over a few weeks on all the cables.

Was going to get a Corsair but they have cheap pins and connectors compaired to the Silverstone PSUs from what I have been told.

Think I will get the 850watt just in case!
