Which way does psu move air.

So if I understand correctly, you have dismantled your PSU (voiding your warranty in the process) so that the PSU fan pulls air through it's rear facing vents and blows out into the case. If so, then I would expect your PSU to overheat as the PSU fan is supposed to blow air onto it's own components and then the warmed air is supposed to exit through the rear facing vents. Unless of course it's an older PSU design which has a smaller rear facing fan which is supposed to blow out the warmed air it creates, if so, then you will again cause premature failure of the PSU due to heat build up.

I have a Antec 300 & Corsair H50 too.
I have ignored Corsair's advice regarding having h50 as intake instead of the usual exhaust the reason for this is I don’t like the idea of the H50 dumping the hot air into the case around my components then out from the front it may reduce CPU temps by a very small amount, But I would rather have my CPU a tad little higher than having all the hot air going around all my other components.
Here's how I currently have my system setup,
1x front intake (120mm Antec TriCool™ Fan @ Med Speed)
1x top exhaust (140mm Antec TriCool™ Fan @ Med Speed)
2x rear exhaust H50 Push/Pull (1x Akasa Viper 120mm / 1x Original H50 Fan)
PSU fan facing up sucking air and exhaust out the back.
But this week I’m going to order another Akasa Viper 120mm and have both Viper's on the H50 doing push/pull with PWM and move the Corsair's original fan to the front as another intake, Then just order another cheap fan to intake at the side of the case.

Ok thanks ive changed all my fan configuration now.
I now have 2 front intake and 1 side intake, Top exaust and rear exaust through H50.
Unfortunatly i cannot have my PSu facing up at the moment due to the 8pin mobo connector not being long enough so will have to get an extension cable for it(this is due to having 2 graphics cards in crossfireX and wont stretch over or under them. So psu will have to stay with fan at bottom for the time being.
Havent noticed much of a difference in temps only HDD's are a bit lower now. CPU and GPU's are still same temp.

Yes that's correct the Antec 300 case came with 1x 120mm(rear exhaust) and 1x 140mm(top exhaust) but i moved the rear exhaust to the front as intake
ok see i only had the 1 top 140mm i guess the guys at OcUK took out the other 120mm and left me with the corsair H50 fan instead. I would have liked that 120mm antec tri-cool fan cant seem to get hold of any black ones now only colored led ones, all these fans are out of stock on website.
Oh... that's unfair they didnt give you the 120mm with the case.. It seems as you have already said all the tri-cool are out of stock, You could try give the guys at OCUK a call, maybe they will ship you the missing 120mm tri-cool fan. As the case should have came with 1x 140mm and 1x 120mm

I think he actually turned the fan around inside the psu, obviously knows better than the manufacturer.
Antec cases according to the FAQ, are suppose to have the psu upside down, but this could vary from a case to case basis, excuse the pun.

I cant turn psu round other way due to 8pin cable being too short and not having an extension cable ive had to leave it with fan facing bottom. The psu sits on a riser and there is about a cm gap between psu and case (i know this as i have had a cable for a blue case light underneath it) it does feel as if there is air being pushed out of psu and with the 2 front fans now as intake it should be getting air. I could mount an 80mm fan with usb connector to the outside of psu just temporary to aid in airflow. Like i have stated before this case is part of an OcUK overclocked bundle and it is how it was setup by them so psu was already mounted that way.

There is no problem at all having the PSU with the fan pointing downwards, as you said it is raised from the case floor enough to draw in cool filtered air from the front intakes . . . been running a Corsair PSU for a year and a half like this with no problems at all . . . the PSU's fan barely turns as it is sitting in the coolest part of the chassis and the little bit of air being expelled out the rear of the PSU is cool! . . . I personally have never mounted a PSU upside down as I don't like the idea of a small random object like a screw falling into it!

Well i have re routed the extension cable now so wont be changing it back i could always buy some mesh to put over it just incase of any debris falling in.
How you finding the Antec 300 thats how i had my 8pin mobo connector before straight up mobo. now got it upside of expansion slot covers and under rear fan good thing about having those little holes at back can just get cable ties through.

Not really, just wanted to show the two Blue LED fans drawing in cool air and that seemed like a good place to lay the insert . . .
Two 120mm "filtered" intakes really offers great cooling options and lower maintenance . . . I just get my clients to wipe down/hoover the front panel every few months and then I remove the fan filter when I visit once a year!
Its a pity you had to buy an adapter and now are thinking of buying some mesh when you didn't need either if you had just stuck the PSU with the fan pointing downwards . . . interesting "advice" you received!
The Antec 300 is pretty flawless, I'd give it 98% . . . bought ten of them when they were selling for £33 and used them for builds, The only thing I had problems with was clients pressing the power button when they were wanting to eject a CD!
. . . and also the front fan filter has to be re-attached just so otherwise you get a tiny bit of vibration . . . apart from those two small niggles its a great thermally advantaged chassis!
