Hello everyone iam totally new to all this.im not sure if i should buy a wireless router or homeplugs or a combination of both.i have my pc downstairs in the dinning room with virgin broadband 20mb speed, i want to get a eagle linux box for the living room downstairs and for upstairs i have a laptop a nintendo wii a ps3 and probably the most hardest one a xbox360 to connect via the pc.can you tell me what would be the best set up and best value to go, in setting this lot up please.would i need a combination of both or is there other ways to go about this.any help would be appreciated very much.cheers bonesy :)

Whoa, paragraphs and proper grammar would be nice, but here goes:

Depending on the size of your house, a wireless router would do the trick. Personally i recommend the Linksys range of products (not too up to speed on their cable range). You'll need a wireless adapter for the Xbox (and PS3?), the Wii should pick up the wireless itself.

hello mate thanks for replying would i be able to use any network adaptor for the xbox360. Would the grw54l linksys be good for the wireless set up with the tomato software or is there any other firmware to install on to it.i been reading a bit about the routers on this forum.seems like a top forum for plenty of help and advice.thanks for the advice mate would appreciate anyone elses view.cheers bonesy

If you plan on going wireless you can only use the official MS wireless dongle on the 360, and even then it doesn't offer the full range of security that a wireless router can provide (it can only do WPA1 rather than WPA2).

Your best bet is homeplug for the 360 and wireless for everything else.
