My new case has a hole in the top for a fan i was wondering wether you have it bring air into the case or take air out of it

Being on the top I would orientate it so that the hot air which rises is blown out of the case, thus drawing cold air in via another fan lower down.

This would create better circulation than having air drawn in via the top hole.

Depends on which case aswell, but for the majority of the cases, PC7+ and ATCs style, the top fan mount is used for an exhaust fan.

Some cases use it as an intake mind, depends totally on the case and rig.

Try both for a day, record your temperatures on each and go with which is the coolest, but if its a PC7+ style basic tower internally it will be an exhaust. :)
