I want to buy a webcam, looking for the following:

Best video quality possible
(Preferably) able to handle low light conditions
(Preferably) with a swivel on the mount
Audio quality doesn't matter as I will be using a separate mic

I was looking at the Logitech C910 but would it really be that much better than the C510? I would like to buy the best but I don't see any sense in spending money needlessly.

I would appreciate hearing your recommendations!

Well the C910 is 10MP vs the 8MP on the C510, so obviously it will be better, whether or not you will be able to notice a difference however, will mainly depend on how good your eyesight is.

The Microsoft LifeCam is a good cam as well.

I'd kind of discounted that webcam because all the videos I've seen people take with it have a horrible high-pitched whine/hissing from the mic. Can anyone confirm/deny this happens for them?

I know, but if it was a choice between buying a product with a defect and one without, I would have to go for the latter just on principle.

I use a lifecam but I couldnt find a way to use the camera to record video and use my proper mic connected to the breakout box on my X-Fi.

Upon checking the Logitech website I discovered that they actually have a couple of new models of webcam I wasn't aware of. The C525 has more features I would make use of and has a decent price point so I think I'll go for that!

Thanks for your contributions.
