Which widescreen 20" good for 4:3 gaming?

Which widescreen 20" good for 4:3 gaming? UPDATE!

Ok, my Dell 19" CRT is on it's way out and i need a replacment. My Budget is approx £300 (and cannot go over £320) and after doing some searching i have the following to choose from:

BenQ FP202W
Philips 200W6CS
Viewsonic VX2025

Now i know the Viewsonic hasn't got 1:1 mapping but does it at least have the option of keeping games in a 4:3 ratio, i think the option is called 'Aspect'? The reason is i have a number of older games that can't be tweaked to widescreen. And what about the other 2? Do they have 1:1 or 'Aspect' options?

And any general opinons will be welcome

EDIT - I can't consider the NEC, it's just too expensive (Unless you want to donate £100)

I dont think there is any way to avoid the image being strecthed to fill the screen on the VX2025WM tbh. Where have you seen "aspect" mentioned for this model? The Philips 200W6CS has this option as well as 1:1 pixel mapping, but i'm not sure about the BenQ FP202W

I didn't say that the VX2025WM had the "aspect" mode, i just asked if it did. I'm intrested to see what people have said about the BenQ FP202W, because in every review and opinon, no one has mentioned it either way!!

my mistake, i misread that. To clear things up then, the VX2025WM doesn't have aspect or 1:1 pixel mapping, those options normally come hand in hand. I don't THINK the BenQ has these options but i'm not 100% sure

Is the NEC really the best option? I would have to wait a couple of months to get the extra money and hope my CRT holds out. Would it be worth the wait and extra cost?

what are you going to be using the screen for? I know you mention some older games in the first post, what else are you using it for? What type of games will you play?

out of those lot, the Philps will suit your needs perfectly. widescreen when you want to and 4:3 when you need to.

May be worth a search for a NEC on the budget you mentioned? I bid for one today.

there`s lot of games that you can edit the config files to make them run on widescreen, your games maybe on the list.

I use my PC 3-4 hours per day 40% gaming 60% web/office stuff. I won't use it for movies because i have it hooked up to my widescreen telly.

OK The Whole ball game has change after doing some research

I can source the NEC 20" second hand for £320 (but not overly keen on 2nd Hand

or

Dell 2007WFP for £319 brand new through work

or

I can settle for Viewsonuc VP930B for £270 for a regular 19" monitor

How does the NEC and Dell compare? I know the dell is 'slower' but what about real world performance?

I've got the BenQ FP202W and am very happy with it. Although in most comparisons I have read it never comes out on top.

Seems like a lot of people have been having problems with the NEC and backlight bleeding! Are other TFT like this?
