Which wifi solution for old property? Mesh/WAP?

I live in an old three storey property (internal walls are brick). Currently have BT FTTC with 4 Wholehome discs (three downstairs, one on 1st floor) which just about gets the signal to where it is needed (though some external cameras show weak connection strength). VM have just offered 1gig service which I am taking up (as BT is only giving 25 down/4 up due to distance from cabinet/maybe old cabling). What is the best option to get a decent signal throughout the house and down to the end of the garden (about 30 metres) where the furthest camera is? Was looking at POE WAP as happy to run cables where I can (have cellar where I can locate a switch and can wire to most ground floor locations) but will we have problems with handoff on WAP? Would Mesh be a better option? If so how many? I don't mind spending a bit to get decent coverage, but I'd hate to splash out on something and find it wasn't much better than the WH discs! Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks - couple of questions if I may (knowledge on this is fairly low as you will see) - 1. Why 2 cables? and 2. What brand/model do you think would perform the best for me given type of house/coverage needed (or is it irrelevant?)

Cables to access points are more stable. Old buildings tends to have thicker walls which will affect mesh kits since it'll weaken the wireless backhaul, especially for 5GHz.

Get yourself something like Unifi, they offer proper handoff with their access points so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I only found handoff problems when I used a weird mix of access points (eg repurposing an old router as a second access point) and/or they didn't support wireless roaming.

Thanks for recommendation - I meant why 2 cables as figured 1 is all that would be needed for POE WAP no?

2000+ mbps powerlines not an option? Mine is similar property - 150mbps at router - 130mbps on second floor so happy with that.
I've got some TP link ones (AV1200?) in but find they keep dropping off and needing resetting. Electric circuits are a bit of a mess, 3 different consumer units - not sure if this matters but perhaps that and the age of the wires limits effectiveness?

Ah right missed that out. Really mostly for back-up reasons, in case you accidentally break the cable while routing it across the house, or it gets damaged over time. Saves you having to redo the whole thing.

You don't have to run 2.
You don’t have to run 2 and yet it’s such a good idea everyone does it. There is no more work pulling 2 cables than one and it’s surprising how often you want that second cable later on. It was good advice.

Agree, great idea - just didn't understand why (thought I might need a WAP with 2 sockets :) ) Thanks for all advice!
